Call the store to check for openings and to sign up. Our instructors are highly qualified and have the experience to teach from beginner to advanced levels and students aged 5 to 95!
Lessons are scheduled as weekly 1/2-hour lessons in our in-store studios. Rates are $20 per lesson. A discount of $2.00 per lesson is available if the monthly tuition is paid in advance. For example, a typical 4-week month will cost $80.00. However, if the payment is received before the start of that month, the cost drops to $72.00.
Students are buying the instructors time. Therefore, cancellations must be received at least 24 hours in advance in order to be rescheduled. Students should work with their instructors to schedule make-up lessons.
In the event of a teacher cancellation, either a make-up session may be scheduled or the lesson credit will carry-over.
Chris received his Bachelor of Music in Trombone performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music. While there he studied under several members of the Cleveland Orchestra including Rick Stout and Massimo La Rosa. Since graduating he has played with the Firelands Symphony Orchestra and the Akron Symphony Orchestra.
Arlyn has been working at Pfabe’s for over twenty years as a teacher. Prior to working at Pfabe’s, Arlyn was a music teacher for Willoughby-Eastlake Schools for 15 years.
Dan has been playing music since the age of 6! He is a graduate of Brunswick high school and studied music performance for 3 years at Cleveland State University. In addition to teaching at Pfabe’s, Dan often plays out in the community.
Brian received a minor in music from Portland State University where he studied jazz performance and music theory. He has over 20 years of performance experience and experience teaching all ages.
Cherie currently plays in the Lakeland Civic Band. She has a B.A. in Music Education and M.A. in Special Education. She has been playing flute for over 30 years but the first instrument she took lessons on was the organ. Cherie has been teaching at Pfabe’s since 1992.
Sue has a Bachelor of Science degree in Audio Recording through the School of Music at The Ohio State University. She Studied oboe with William P. Baker. In addition to playing in the OSU Concert Band and Wind Ensemble, Sue has played with the Cleveland Women’s Orchestra and played percussion in the OSU Marching Band. You might run into her as a substitute teacher in the Mentor Schools!
Mike currently plays bass guitar for a classic rock band, Pawn. In the past he has worked with bands such as Suburban East, Midnight Express, Second Time Around, Funktion, and Phase II. Mike was also a computer programmer from 1985-2005. Though he doesn’t teach it, Mike once took organ lessons at Pfabe’s!
Ali “M’Pali” LePere has been playing trumpet for nearly two decades. In addition to teaching at Pfabe’s, Ali also works in the store as a sales associate and is the school liaison.
David received his Bachelor's of Arts in Music from Valparaiso University. He has played professionally with several bands including the Lakeland Civic Band and the Ashtabula Brass Band. David also conducts a trumpet quartet at Faith Lutheran Church in Mentor.
Pam has been a professional musician for more than thirty years, a piano teacher for over sixteen years and has performed both as a solo artist and with the bands Dixie Flyer, Ricky & The Rockets, Freefall, Undivided and currently Abbey Rodeo. Her formal childhood training included piano, guitar, flute, music theory, and singing. In high school she continued her piano and theory studies at the Cleveland Institute of Music.
Mike Palermo, a native of Jamestown, New York received his degree in Music Education and Performance from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in 1993 and went on to receive his Masters Degree from Cleveland State University in 1998. He was inducted into the Edinboro University “Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame” in 2007. Mike has performed and conducted workshops with artists including Joe Lovano, Christopher Holliday, Dominic Spera, and Dave Samuels. He has also traveled across the United States and even abroad to countries such as Belgium, the Netherland, Canada, and France. Dale is a classical and folk guitarist and composer. He has performed in Europe and around the U.S. His students have won 1st place in fine arts competitions statewide from over 8000 entrants. Dale started teaching 18 years ago full time and started at Pfabe’s in 2006.
Amanda can play every instrument EXCEPT the bagpipes and the didgeridoo! Amanda currently teaches at the Parma Community schools and has been working at Pfabe’s since 2014.
Larry has been a percussionist for over 45 years, performing professionally for over 35 years and teaching for over 25 years. He attended Wickliffe High School and then continued his studies toward a B.E. in Music and Percussion Performance at Kent State University. Over the years, Larry has worked with a multitude of groups and musicians, including The Ink Spots, the Four Aces, the Cleveland Pops Orchestra, and Ben Vareen. Larry was previously the Director of the Lakeland Civic Jazz Orchestra and the co-director of the Annual Lakeland Jazz Festival. In addition to composing solos and multiple percussion pieces for various percussion instruments, Larry is an Adjunct Professor and Applied Percussion Instructor at Lakeland Community College, director of Percussion Studies and Co-director of the Marching Band Drum Line at the Cleveland Heights School district, and performs with his ensembles: The Larry Smith Express, The LS Jazz Express and Larry Smith’s Lighter Side.
Jeremy graduated from Perry high school. He is the drummer for the legendary bluesman, Travis Haddix, in addition to teaching at Pfabe’s! Jeremy currently helps out the drumline at Madison High School.
Tracey is a Mentor High School graduate where she played in both the band and symphonic orchestra. She received her Associate of Arts from Lakeland Community College and is currently pursuing a Bachelors degree in Music Therapy from Cleveland State University. Tracey has experience conducting vocal ensembles and private lessons.
